Moratorium on fishermen's loan repayment extended
Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala cabinet today decided to extend by three months the moratorium on repayment of loans
taken by fishermen from various co-operatives, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said. The moratorium on loans announced earlier expired on May 2,Achuthanandan told reporters after a cabinet meeting here.
The Cabinet decided to approve in full the report of Justice Padmanabhan Committee appointed to revise the salary,
pension and other benefits of judicial officers, subject to the endorsement of Supreme Court, he said.
Additional Chief Secretary Mheanti has been appointed as Chairman of an expert committee to study the possibility of
fixing milk price in accordance with production cost, he said.
The committee has been asked to submit the report within one month, he said.
The committee has been set up in the wake of the demand of Kerala State Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation,
one of the main suppliers of milk in the state under brand name 'Milma', to hike milk price. Presently price of one litre
of milk in the state is Rs.20.
The Cabinet also decided to pay a solatium of Rs. One lakh each to the families of nine persons killed in a road accident
at Thanjavur last week. PTI
