Kannur: The intelligence agencies had collected information on the activities of controversial Chinese mobile production company Huawei Technologies from the state too. It is reported that they haven't found anything suspicious. The search will continue. It was Huawei which facilitated BSNL 3G mobile connection for four South Indian states, including Kerala. Later, India cancelled the contract with the company owing to security reasons. Officers of the company from China reached here to set up the mobile network. They transferred messages in Chinese languages which was traced in a communication gateway set up at the border. A probe was conducted on the same and information collected form BSNL officials too.
Generally it is not easy to leak information by penetrating into the telecommunication network. But if there are problems in the network, after the work is complete, the company which set up the network has to repair it from its head office. The experts from the company used to repair it by sitting in their office. When such moves are allowed there are chances from their part to leak information or to leave spying programmes for the same.
BSNL officials said that as the company is under surveillance, if anything happened it can easily be traced.
