Kinaloor: Minister says govt ready for a referendum

Kozhikode: The govt is ready for a referendum on the issue of laying a 4-lane roadway from Vattoli to Kinaloor, said Finance Minister Thomas Issac here on Sunday. He said that the UDF and the Jama-at-Islamia should end the strike if 75 percent of the people who are living on either side of the road are willing to part their land. The minister also reiterated that after the govt provides land to the farmers in Kinaloor it would take over the excess land and it has not decided on the roadway from Kozhikode to Vattoli. Earlier, Mullapally had said that he was not against laying of a 4-lane roadway and now his volta face on the issue is unbecoming of a minister, he said.
