HC orders Thiruvananthapuram Golf Club to be vacated
The HC has directed that the Thiruvananthapuram Golf Club should be vacated within 4 weeks. It was in June 2008 that the govt had taken over the golf club and following a petition by the office bearers of the club they obtained a stay on the HC order. After a prolonged period, the court, after hearing the club's version directed them to vacate it. The government, in its order, had charged the Club with violating lease deed conditions, operating a bar and renting out the premises for film shooting. However, Club officials said that the state government had decided to take over the age-old club on the basis of recommendations, instead of verifying the facts.
