Mathrubhumi launches Alapuzha edition
Mathrubhumi daily launched its 14th edition in Alappuzha on Sunday. The inaugural function was held at the SDV School ground. Defence minister A K Antony dedicated the edition and also inaugurated the Kutti Maluamma Memorial building where the press will function. He said that time has come for the media and the politicians to think and introspect where Kerala stands when compared to other states. Irrespective of vote bank and the circulation figures, the media should work united to mark a bright future for the state.
Speaking at the inauguration of the new office VM Nair Memorial building, Chief minister V S Achuthanandan said that media should not yield to paid news as is happening in the north.
The office buildings were given the names of two great personalities. A V Kutti Maulamma was a freedom fighter and former director of Mathrubhumi and the new office building is in the name of V M Nair, who was Mathrubhumi's managing editor and managing director.
