Assembly pays rich tributes to former speaker
Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala assembly today adjourned for the day after paying rich tributes to veteran Parliamentarian and former Speaker Varkala Radhakrishnan,who passed away recently. The assembly recalled his deep knowledge of parlimentary system and in handling the proceedings of the house.
Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said Radhakrishnan's knowledge on the Right to Information Act had received
accolades even from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Speaker K Radhakrishnan said Varkala Radhakrishnan was a true Communist leader who led a simple life and worked for the
benefit of agriculture workers.
Opposition leader Oommen Chandy said Radhakrishnan was a model speaker and the pride of Kerala.
The discussion on budgetary grants will be taken up by the house tomorrow. PTI
