Thiruvananthapuram: Taking seriously the complaints of anomalies in the fair price of land fixed,Kerala government today
said that time bound steps would be taken to rectify the mistakes. Replying to a calling attention on the matter in the assembly, Revenue Minister K P Rajendran said people were given opportunity to file appeal against the fair price of land now published.
The appeal would be scrutinised by district authorities and new value would be fixed, he said.
He denied the UDF opposition allegation that after the fair price came into effect in April, the number of land registeration and revenue to government have come down.
Revenue from land registeration in April this year was Rs.142 crore while it was Rs.115 crore in April last year, he said.
Taking up the issue, Thomas Unniyadan (KC-M) said people were facing difficulties for the sale and purchase of lands due to 'unscientific' method of fixing the fair value of land.
Opposition leader Oommen Chandy wanted government to take urgent steps to resolve problems faced by people due to the new system. PTI
