Kozhikode: The total business of Kozhikode circle of Punjab National Bank touched Rs 2,019.49 crore as on June 30, 2010 showing a year-to-year growth of 19.09 per cent, a senior bank official said today. The deposits stood at Rs 1,262.91 crores and credit at Rs 756.58 crore, the growth on Year-on-Year basis being at 21.2 per cent and 15.6 per cent respectively, bank's Field General Manager S Ranganathan told reporters here after a review of the performance. Priority sector advances were to the tune of Rs 521.04 crores and Credit Deposit ratio was at 59.9 per cent.
The bank as a whole was projecting a 28 per cent growth in the current financial year as against 25 per cent achieved in the previous year, he said. As corporate policy, bank was concentrating on low cost deposits to enable it to control its leding rates, he said, adding this is in consonance with Reserve Bank of India and Government policy to curtail inflation. Ranganathan said the thrust on Retail Credit continued with the figure touching Rs 434.22 crore as on June 30, 2010.
There are 80 branches in Kozhikode circle comprising of six districts, Calicut, Palakkad, Kannur, Kasargod, Malappuram and Wayanad. A sum of Rs 75.46 crore has been disbursed in the circle by way of education loans to facilitate the student ommunity, Ranganathan said. PTI
