Athirapally project: Gadgil committee to take final decision

New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Forest and Environment Jairam Ramesh said that the Madhav Gadgil committee will decide the fate of Athirapally hydro -electric project . He informed the same after the meeting with State electricity minister AK Balan. The Gadgil committee which was appointed to conduct a study on the biodiversity in Western Ghats would conduct a study and gave report on Athirapally project too. Jairam said that study will be conducted incorporating researchers from Kerala Forest Research Institute and from Tropical Botanical Garden and Research Institute(TBGRI). He said personally he is not favorable to the project, but as a minister a decision will be taken after detailed study.
