New Delhi: Intelligence Additional DGP Sibi Mathews will head the Internal Security Agency too, said Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan here on Friday. He said that rumours on transfer of officials of the special investigating team probing the lecturer attack case are baseless.
With the setting up of the agency, the govt has appointed 9 new posts. An SP, 2 DySPs, Circle Inspectors, Head constables have been appointed. They will not be given any additional responsibilities. The Assembly session has also decided that they would not deal with other general cases.
A special office has been set up in Thiruvananthapuram and the agency will function from Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Kozhikode. Kodiyeri said that the local and crime branch personnels would assist them in their investigation.
Banning any organisations should be decided by the centre. The main task would be to isolate the organisation politically and only with proper investigation the ban may be enforced, Kodiyeri stressed.
