Kozhikode: On Wednesday Gandhij'is first visits to Kerala will celebrate its 90 the anniversary. Gandhiji who reached Kozhikode, had spoken in a public meeting in the beach and stayed here for one day. The next day he went to Mangalore. After this he visited Kerala for four times. When Gandhiji arrived here for prime visit huge crowds were awaiting him at the railway station to receive him. When Gandhiji alighted at the station, Khan Bahadur K Muthukoya welcomed him with garland.
He attended the congress meet of 500 people. Later by 6.30 pm he addressed huge crowd of 25,000 at the Kozhikode beach. Khilafat leader Moulana Shoukathali accompanied him. K Madahavn Nair translated his speech. The aim of his first visit was to ensure public support for Khilafat and non coperation movements. He also aimed for unified Kerala which was lying as different states like Kochi, Travancore and Malabar. Later Gandhiji visited Kerala in 1925, 27, 34 and 37.
