Night traffic ban completes one year

Sulthan Bathery: The night traffic ban through Bandipur National Park in Chamarajnagar completed one year. Since then the travelers from Kerala to Karnataka are suffering and are being blocked by the Karnataka official all whole night from 9 pm to 6 am. The ban was imposed citing that the transportation was affecting the wild lives in the park. The ban was imposed as per the order of Chamaraj Nagar district collector as per the request of Bandhipur DFO on June 3 on the roads passing through the park, National Highway 212 is from Mysore to Kalpetta via Sultan Bathery, and the other, National Highway 67, is from Mysore to Gundalpet. Due to immense protests from Kerala that order was not implemented. But Karnataka field public interest litigation and later the order was implemented. From then onwards Kerala had been facing many problems. The ban had affected the supply of vegetables. People are now forced to take a longer route to reach their destinations. Though many protest programmes were held , all are proved to be futile. Till now thousands are reeling under the problem.
