Kozhikode : The first flight carrying Haj pilgrims from Kerala to Holy city of Mecca during this season would take off from Calicut International Airport, near here, on October 21.
Kerala State Haj Committee Chairman P T A Rahim, MLA, told UNI here today that Saudi Arabian Airlines would fly altogether 8,159 pilgrims selected from official quota during the season till November 4 to Medina.
After seven- day pilgrimage in Mecca, the devotees would start their return trip in the same airliner from Jeddah on December 1, he said.
He said the airline was expected to complete the return sortie of the believers by December 15.
Out of the 8,159 quota, Kozhikode topped with 2,539 followed by Malappuram 2,055 and Kannur 1,151 with Pathanamthitta having the lowest at 33.
