Thiruvananthapuram: A plastic waste collection campaign, organised by the World Malayalee Council, will begin here from October 2.
The campaign would be flagged off by Mr T K A Nair, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Mr K M Mani, Kerala Congress leader, MPs and MLAs, Council Chairman George Kulangara said in a release here today.
The campaign would conclude at Manjeswaram on October 15, he said.
School and college students, elected representatives, film actors and volunteers from NGOs would participate in the campaign.
Stating that the Council had organised a river water pollution analysis campaign last November, he said quality of water in several rivers had gone down considerably and the water in those rivers was not fit for domestic use.
