Thiruvananthapuram : The South West monsoon has been vigorous over Kerala, with the northern regions of the state getting heavy to very heavy rains in the last 24 hours.
The MET office said isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall was likely in Kerala and heavy rain in Lakshwadeep in the next 48 hours.
It said strong onshore winds from the westerly direction with speed reaching 45 to 55 KMPH was likely along and off Kerala coast and Lakshwadeep area during the next 24 hours.
Kochi Airport received the highest rainfall of 18 cm followed by Piravom - 17 cm, the Local MET office said.
While Perumbavoor got 15 cm of rains, Alappuzha and Chertala received 14 cm of rains each, it said. CIAL Kochi recorded a rainfall of 11 cm. Alwaye, Chalakudi and Konni received 9 cm of rain each, it said.
Kottayam, Kumaragom and Vaikom received 8 cm of rain each, the MET office said.
