Kottayam: A postcard written by Father of Nation Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was handed over to CMS College authorities here.
The invaluable letter written on October16, 1938, posted from Peshawar as a reply to the correspondence of Rev.Philip Lee, the then Principal of the College, who informed Gandhi about the poblems faced by the College authorities in conducting classes as students agitation was at its peak following the Civil Disobedience movement led by Gandhi.
Lee requested Gandhi to intervene and to prevail upon the students to abjure violence and issue a statement.
Gandhiji responded to it and issued a statement asking the students to observe non-violence in thought, word and deed.
The postcard was handed over to the authorities after the death of Lee by his son Dr.John Lee, Professor at University of Sydney in Australia.
