Kannur : Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President Ramesh Chennithala today demanded a CBI inquiry into the lottery issue.
Talking to reporters at the Press Club here, he alleged that there was a nexus between lottery mafia and the LDF government.
A letter seeking CBI inquiry would be sent to Chief Minister V S Achuthanadhan today itself, he said.
He said Finance Minister T M Thomas was afraid of a judicial probe being conducted into the lottery case.
On Congress spokesman Manu Abhishek Singhvi attending the lottery case for Megha distributors, he said it was not proper on his (Singhvi) part to appear in the case in Kerala High Court.
Mr Chennithala also sought deployment of Central forces in Kannur district to ensure free and fair poll in the elections to local bodies.
