Thiruvananthapuram : As many as 3,187 polling booths have been identified as sensitive with the highest number of 1,345 from Kannur District and the lowest number of 31 from Thrissur District.
According to State Election Commission office here today, necessary instructions had been issued to police authorities to provide extra security for the sensitive booths.
Booths in other districts identified as sensitive were Thiruvananthapuram (118), Kollam (89), Pathanamthitta (60), Alappuzha (233), Kottayam (52), Ernakulam (442), Palakkad (80), Malappuram (58), Kozhikode (396), Wayanad and Kasaragod (265), sources added.
The Election Commission had also informed action would be taken against those teachers deputed on election duty for working as election agents for candidates.
The decision was taken in the wake of many aided school teachers seeking approval from the Election Commission to work as election agents, the sources added.
