Kothamangalam : The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the New Man's College professor T J Joseph assault case has seized a diary, laptop and CDs during the raid conducted at the house and factory of the State Executive Committee member of Popular Front of India (PFI) Ashraf at Moovattupuzha and Kothamangalam last night.
The raid by SIT will continue raids today also.
Acting on the instruction of Police Superintendent P N Unnirajan, SIT personnel raided Ashraf's house and his Curry Powder Industries in Varappetty Kothamangalam.
The raid which commenced at 1030 hrs lasted till 0130 hrs. Ashraf had been absconding since the attack on New Man's College professor.
Police had raided his house some time ago also but could not find any incriminating documents.
Acting on a tip off, SIT SP Unnirajan was instructed to conduct simultaneous raids in Ashraf's house and factory today also.
The SP said the dairy, laptop and the CDs would be examined thoroughly.
Prof. Joseph was attacked on July 4 allegedly by PDF activists, accusing him of blasphemy. His hand was cut off from the wrist in the incident.
