Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Government Contractors Association (KGCA), affiliated to Builders Association of India, today urged the state government to control monopolies in the manufacturing sector of construction materials.
Addressing a press conference here, KGCA state president Varghese Kannampalli alleged that profit-minded monopolies in the sector was playing a negative role in the speedy implementation of the construction projects in the state.
Many construction projects in the state were facing a serious crisis due to the shortage of construction materials and its increasing prices, he said.
Pointing out the price of cement was increased manifold by the manufacturers, he said ''the reason for the hike was not justified by them.''
