UDF sweeps Kochi-Thrissur corporations, LDF in Kollam

Thiruvanantharuram: In central Kerala, the UDF is in a strong position as it won the Kochi and Thrissur corporations. Both these corporations were with the LDF during the previous assembly election and in the LSG polls in 2005. In the total 74 seats in Kochi, when the results came UDF won in 47 seats, and LDF in 23. BJP also won in two seats. In Thrissur UDF won in 45 seats where the results of 53 seats were out among the total 55 and LDF won only in 6 seats. In Kollam, ruling LDF sustained power as among the total 31 seats LDF won in 22 and UDF in eight seats. BJP also won in one seat.

In Thiruvananthapuram heated battle is on among the total 100 sets when LDF won 17, UDF in 14 and BJP in one seat. .
