Kerala's Sreekumar scores ton, Yadav matches with six-wkt haul

New Delhi: Kerala middle-order batsman Sreekumar Nair played the anchor's role at the Palam cricket ground here to guide his side to a good total against host Services in the Ranji Trophy Plate League Group B match today. Nair forged important partnerships with lower-order batsmen on his way to a brilliant century (137, 17x4) to help Kerala pile up a total of 454 on Day Two.

For Services, young bowler Suraj Yadav rattled the visitors' batting line-up with a superb display of pace bowling, clinching a career best haul of six for 86.

The main highlight of the 32-year-old Keralite's superb innings was adding 200 runs for the seventh (Padmanabhan Prasanth) and eighth (Sony Cheruvathur) wickets.

The partnership with Prasanth yielded 106 runs while the one with Cheruvathur produced 94 runs.

Before him, Rohan Prem and Robert Fernandez came together to bail out Kerala from a difficult situation after openers were dismissed early in the innings yesterday.

On Palam's placid track, an average of 2.66 runs per over states the commendable job done by the Services' bowlers. All the bowlers bowled a restricting line making it difficult for the batsmen to score freely.

At the draw of stumps, Services was 16 for no loss
