If not used Smart City Project land will be taken back: Minister

Kochi : Kerala Electricity Minister A K Balan today said that if the prestigious Smart City project here was not going to be implemented by the Dubai-based Tecom, the Kerala State Electrcity Board (KSEB) would think to take back the land provided for the project. Talking to reporters after a public function here, he said if the project was not implemented, the KSEB would utilise the land for the proposed 1,026-MW Brahmapuram Power General Project to run on Liquified Natural Gas (LNG).

Reiterating that the government was not going to agree with the demand by the Tecom authorities that they wanted free hold on 12 per cent land, he said it was good to return the 100 acre land, part of the 206 acres of the Brahmapuram Diesel Power Project, to the KSEB.

Mr Balan expressed hope that once the Brahmapuram Project was completed, the power crisis in the state would be solved to some extent.
