Kozhikode : Stating that dispute among investors dampened Kochi Indian Premier Leage team, Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) Honorary Secretary T C Mathew has said that there is a scant possibility of formation of the team as the crisis are yet to be resolved.
Speaking to newspersons here last night, he said ''some miracle could help form the team as there was no patch up between the investors despite BCCI giving 30 days, till November 27, to resolve the crisis.
Another reason was that the investors were aware that they cannot maintain the team for long, he said, adding ''shareholders wanted maximum return for their investment as it was a business venture after all.'' However, the KCA was hopeful that some other investors would come up if the promoters Rendezvous Sports World Private Limited backed out from the venture, he said.
Mathew aid ''we are still opitimistic. Let us wait till November 27.'' On future plans, he said the KCA proposed to have two more state level cricket academies, apart from the the existing three and district level academies, in Thalassery and Malappuram by next year.
The KCA also proposed to spot young talents to give them free coaching as part of the development of the game in the state, he said, adding the trainees would be provided with free food, kit and other basic facilities.
As part of its plan to have own infrastructure, the KCA proposed to have a stadium with world class facilities at Edakochi in Ernakulam.
The Rs 350 crore ambitious project was expected to be completed by 2012, he said.
Besides, the KCA proposed to have a stadium in Kozhikode district as well, he said, adding they had already visited four places to identify land for the purpose.
