Thiruvananthapram : Global tenders have been floated for the much awaited Vizhinjam Deep-sea Container Transshipment Terminal.
The Request for Qualification (RFQ) has been issued today for identifying a private partner to operate the Vizhinjam Deep-sea Container Transshipment Terminal.
The Vizhinjam International Seaport Limited (VISL), a company wholly owned by the Kerala Government, had invited applications from eligible partners interested in the design, engineering, financing and development of superstructure of the port and the operations, maintenance and management of the terminal.
The Vizhinjam project would be constructed on 'Landlord Model'.
The RFQ will close on December 29.
The VISL would float the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) bid for building the port in early 2011.
VISL CEO Sanjeev Kausik had yesterday said that the the project slated to be completed in three phases was planned as a PPP model during the construction of the basic structure and later it would be operated on a revenue sharing basis with an operator.
He had said land acquisition had been completed to a great extent and the work on the approach road to the port site was progressing.
The Railways had also approved the proposal for rail connectivity to the port, he said.
