Kozhikode: Noting that kidney related ailments are a grave problem, Rajendra Shekhavat, MLA from Amaravathi, Maharashtra and President Prathiba Patil's son, today emphasised the need for creating awareness among the people on the ailment.
Speaking after the logo releasing function in connection with the formation of the 'Kidney Health Foundation of Kozhikode', Shekhavat said people will have to take a look at the change in their lifestyle. 'I personally feel yoga may help the people on how to lead a stress-free life', he said. People are aware of the problems like hypertension anddiabetes, he said, adding malfunctioning of the kidney is one of the most important dangers, which needs to be highlighted in the society for the people to know about the effects of the disease.
Pointing out the need for containing kidney relatedproblems, he said 'if the problem is neglected, dialysis has to be done, which is very costly amd the poor will not be able to afford'. 'At the end of the day a good health is what is the most
important thing in likfe no matter what you achieve in life', he said.
Dr P P Pramod Kumar, General Secretary, Kidney Health Foundation of Kozhikode, said the Foundation was instituted with the objective of helping the patients suffering from kidney related ailments. It will organise classes to enlighten the public on the prevention and management of the disease, by setting up dialysis unit, by starting rehabilitation process and by
extending financial assistance to the unfortunate victims of the disease, he said. Among those spoke included M K Raghavan, MP and P T Abdul Latheef, Deputy Mayor of Kozhikode. PTI
