    Shihab corrects version; tenders apology

Kadavaloor: Kadavaloor Shihab, who had given false information and misrepresented facts in a article which appeared in the Mathrubhumi on November 20, had tendered his apology and given an explanation following widespread criticism by readers. Shihab revealed the truth in a probe conducted by Mathrubhumi. A week before publishing the article in the paper, the youth had revealed another version of the story to a retired teacher residing in Kadavaloor. He had said that he had passed IAS prelims and is slated to become the deputy collector of Chhatisgarh. When the news spread in and around the area, the panchayat members of Kadavaloor had honoured him and had decided to felicitate Shihab.

He had even made the local people of Kadavaloor believe his version that he is not interested in pursuing IAS and would be taking up a plum job with the United Nations. He also said that he is proceeding to Chennai in December.

Mathrubhumi had tried to track Shihab following adverse criticism from its readers. Finally, Shihab reached the Kunnamkulam office of Mathrubhumi on Friday afternoon and submitted his true story.

In his letter Shihab had stated that he had misrepresented facts and would be taking complete responsibility for the report. He also pleaded forgiveness to the readers and tendered his apologies.
