    Morale and Motivation of Indian armed forces not affected by Adarsh scam

    Kochi: The Morale and Motivation of the Indian Armed forces have not been affected following the Mumbai Adarsh Housing Society scam, Vice Admiral K N Sushil, Flag Officer Commanding in Chief, Southern Naval Command, today said. 'I dont think the morale has been hit. yes, There is a feeling that others are looking at us with a different eye', Vice Admiral Sushil, told reporters on board INS Tir here. The Morale, Morality and honesty of defence personnel--Officers, Sailors and Cadets continues to be high. '...We will introspect. We will put in measures that we do not succumb to pressures. There is need to look inwards.. What the problems are, were the lacunae are.. ', he said when asked if the morale of the defence forces had taken a hit as top names of serving and retired defence personnel had surfaced in scam. The navy was also interacting with the state government for land for housing schemes for naval personnel. An army housing
    society was coming up at thiruvananthapuram, he said. The Navy has the responsbility for overall maritime security which includes coastal security and offshore security the Triton and Nepture series of excercises for the coastal security of kerala nd Laklshadweep respectively. This yearfour such excercises have been conducted including the just concluded excercise Triton III, he said. These excercises have further ensured functionally seamless integration of the Indian Navy, Coast Guard and other state and central agencies like Marine Police, Customs, fisheries department, he said. The training of new coastal security force Sagar Prahari Bal (SPB) began this year at INS Dronacharya. Two more batches have been trained since then, the Vice Admiral said interacting with the media on the occasion of Navy week celebrations.

    There has been godd response from the adminsitration and police on coastal security. A coastal police station was started at Beypore. INS Kalpeni has already been commissioned and INS Kabra will be commissioned by next month which would increasing the patrolling capabilities. Infra structure to improve coastal security is going in full swing and government is reviwing this at a very high level. In the Ezhimala naval academy, the work of Naval hospital, Auditorium and firing range are expected to be completed by Aug 2012.
