NDA firm on JPC probe in 2G spectrum

New Delhi : Ahead of the all-party meeting convened by Speaker Meira Kumar to end the logjam in Parliament, leaders of the Opposition NDA met here today and decided to stick to their demand for a JPC probe in the alleged irregularities in 2G spectrum allocation. Leaders of the BJP, Shiv Sena, Akali Dal and JD(U) met in Parliament House and decided to take a united stand on
setting up a Joint Parliamentary Committee to probe the 2G spectrum allocation.

'We are firm on our demand for JPC probe,' Shiv Sena deputy leader Anandrao Adsul said after the meeting.

Another leader said that the aim of the meeting was to ensure that the NDA was united in the all-party meeting convened by the Speaker.

Earlier BJP Deputy Leader in Rajya Sabha S S Ahluwalia told reporters that the 'BJP Parliamentary Party has endorsed
the stand of party leaders that it will continue to press the government for a JPC probe...we will not compromise'.

Ahluwalia also questioned the government's offer to the opposition to allow the House to function properly if the
Supreme Court decides to monitor the CBI probe into 2G spectrum allocation.

'How can you guarantee that the SC will order monitoring of CBI probe...how do you know in advance that the
apex court will give a decision on these lines...this arouses suspicion that they want to influence the Supreme Court,' he
    alleged.

Among those who attended the NDA meeting were Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley, Ratan Singh
Ajnala of Akali Dal, Shivanand Tiwari of the JD(U), Shiv Sena leaders Adsul and Anant Geete and BJP Deputy Leader Gopinath Munde.

Meira Kumar has convened a meeting of leaders of all parties today as part of efforts to ensure smooth functioning
    of the House.PTI
