Kannur : Police arrested a home guard attached to Taliparamba police station today in connection with the misuse of an ATM card of a person employed in the Gulf.
According to police, the Home Guard C Mohanan (50), an ex-service man and his son Nijil (18), student at Kottur near Sreekantapuram in Kannur district were arrested for misusing the card.
On November 20, Mohanan, who was on duty, found a purse and an ATM card. But he did not surrender them at the police station.
His son Nikhil, found the pin number written on the back of the Syndicate Bank ATM card.
The next day, Mohanan and his son withdrew Rs 2,100 using the ATM card. On November 25, a complaint was registered at the Taliparamaba Police station about the card and the purse.
Police arrested them identifying the two with the help of the cameras installed at the ATM counter.
