Alappuzha : A 52-year-old man, who allegedly has married eleven times, finally landed in police custody here.
Thomson, a native of Ollur in Thrissur district, is said to have married 11 women. He married a nurse, native of Kavalam, near here, 20 days ago. He was remanded after he was produced before a local court here yesterday, police said.
According to police, the modus-operandi of the man was that he gave advertisements in leading dailies inviting proposals from poor families, citing that he was a widower and working in Gulf.
Since girls from poor families were his target, his cheating materialised without much difficulty as he would convince the girl's families with his good behaviour and get the marriages registered.
He has married girls from different parts of the state, including Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Idukki, Perumbavoor, Guruvayoor and Sultan Battery.
On interrogation, he claimed that he had no motives like robbing brides of cash or ornaments. He only wanted to live with as many women as possible.
He also claimed that there were no complaints of cheating against him from the girls and the arrest was following a complaint from a local resident about his behaviour.
Police said they were investigating and checking all the details about his other marriages.
Police said while giving advertisements, he used to change his name and address and convince the girls' family members that he was working in the Gulf.
Thomson had worked in a bank, but he resigned from the job and turned his attention to real estate business, in which he suffered a huge loss. Later, he migrated to gulf countries looking for jobs.
