Kochi: Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL) has received the MOU Excellence Award for 2008-09 for its outstanding performance under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU )entered into with the Govt Of India.
The award was presented by Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh to K Subramaniam, D(O) and Officiating chairman and managing director at a function held at New Delhi on Wednesday, a CSL press release said.
The growth of CSL has been phenomenal in the last 5 years. The shipbuilding income increased by 4.5 times from Rs
222 Crore in 2005-06 to Rs 1012 Crore in 2009-10. Similarly the total turnover has increased by 3 times during the period
from Rs 370 Crore to Rs 1200 Crore, the release said. The net profit increased 12 times from Rs 18 Crore to Rs
223 Crore. The company has received excellent rating consecutively in the last 3 years for its performance under
the MOU with Government of India. In recognition of its performance, CSL was awarded the Category 1 Miniratna Status
by Government of India in July 2008. pti
