Kochi: The Plantation Corporation of Kerala (PCK) on Friday has withdrawn the controversial affidavit that was filed in the Kerala High Court regarding the endosulfan issue in the State. PCK would submit an amended affidavit in the High Court soon. Earlier the state government asked PCK to amend its controversial affidavit before the High Court which disowned responsibility to pay compensation to the endosulfan victims in Kasaragod district.
The affidavit had landed into controversy after PCK statement that aerial spraying was conducted on the basis of the recommendations of Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) and other institutions. In the affidavit, PCK Managing Director N.K. Manoj said the allegation that the aerial spraying of the insecticide was started in 1976 was false. The PCK began regular spraying only in 1983.
The Director Board meeting held earlier had decided to withdraw and amend the existing affidavit favourable to government's stand
