Palakkad: The police on Tuesday booked eight people including a women and her brother in connection with the murder of a textile businessman from Chennai T. Vilvaraj (45) whose body was found in his car at Thekkepotta near Vadakkanchery on the Palakkad-Thrissur border on Sunday. They were Manjapra Pulinkootam Jayalakshmi, 34, Moolankodu Kunnankad Basheer, 34, Jayalakshmi's brother Sivakumar, 31, Plachikulambu Basheer, 26, Olavakkodu Shefeeq, 21, Nishad, 22, Shefeeq, 21 from Moolankodu and Santhosh,22 from Alinkal.
Jayalakshmi and Vivaraj had an illegal affair earlier. Vilvaraj was called through Jayalskhami to snatch huge amount from him. When she called Vilvaraj came to Palakkad without any suspicion. Later Jayalakshmi and her brother joined him from Palakkad. They began journey to Manjapra after having meal. They were followed by another group. Later that group blocked them and taken Vilvaraj with them to a secluded place near Thekkepotta. Then the group including Jayalakshmi threatened him and asked him money. The group who were of the assumption that Vilvaraj might be carrying money, were mistaken. Police said that in this the group resorted to torture. The group forced him to call ISD calls to transfer money to Jayalakshmi's account and Rs 43, 937 was deposited in her account from Canada. Vivaraj was killed during the torture and for destroying the evidences that the group abandoned their vehicle after removing number plate and the rock, which was used to hit him, mobile phone were thrown into s pond. After that Jayalakshmi and Basheer escaped to Kozhikode.
