Kizhakkambalam: Well known industrialist and Founder and CMD of the Anna Group, M C Jacob was presented the Kerala government's first life time achievement award for 2009-10 for his contributions to the industrial sector in the state. The award, carries a cash prize of rs 10 lakh, a statutte and citation and was given away by the Industries minister, Elamaram Kareem, at a glittering function here last night. Speaking at the function, the minister said Jacob was the biggest employer in the private sector in the state and over 12,000 families have been benefited by his ventures. Private investment is a must for the state and there was vast scope for ventures in IT, Electronics, Food processing and Garments in the state. Transport minister, Jose Thettayil, said there was good atmosphere for investors and more private investments should come to the state.
T. Balakrishnan, Additional chief secretary, Nest Group chairman N Jehangir, former minister T.M Jacob and Ernakulam district collector M Beena were among those who spoke. Jacob said he would be utilizing the fund for providing monthly pension to his employees. Anna Group is a multi product, multi crore sucess story that began its operation in 1968. It has evolved as a company devoted to the manfuacture of Aluminium vessels, appliances, pressure cookers in the brand name of Chakson and Anna and has diversified into various fields ranging from spices to textiles
