i Muhammedkutty said State Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan had already written to Centre on the matter. 'State will take up the issue with the Centre once again with the support of Congress led Opposition UDF in the state', he said to the reply of P Jayarajan (CPI-M). The minimum wages of agriculture labour in the state was hiked from Rs.120 to Rs.200 last year. Though the state had already informed the Centre about the increse of minimum wages agriculture labour in the state, considered as the index to fix wages under the MNREGP.
Labour budget allotted to the state for the year was Rs.1731.99 crores, he said.However, he said there was undue delay in releasing funds under the programme to the state. Jayarajan wanted the government to take steps to ensure funds due for the state and enhance the prevailing wages given under the project.
