Govt to raise the support price of paddy:FM

Thiruvananthapuram: Finance minister Thomas Isaac told the Assembly that the government was considering to increase of support price of rice to Rs 14 from Rs 13 . When the LDF government came to power, the support price was Rs 7. Minister also added that the government gave Rs 74 crore as subsidy for the procurement of paddy. Pointing out the State Government could not alone take steps for controlling prices Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Issac said the Centre should also act in controlling price rise.The recent price rise was because of the high price of seeds and hoarding of essential things, he told the Assembly. Stating the State Government had taken all steps to curtail prices, he said the Centre should increase imports and also check black market.


Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan today said that action have been taken against 214 officers who have failed to respond to request demanded by the public through RTI.
