Kozhikode: Rajasthan Anti-Terrorist Squad held Suresh Nair, a Malayalee, who is suspected to have links with many blasts, including the one in Ajmer dargah in 2007. He would be presented before the court after collecting more evidences and information. He was arrested near the Saraswathi Vidya Mandir School, Anand where he is working as a teacher.
The Ajmer dargah blast killed three people in October 2007. The investigation team is of the opinion that Suresh Nair has close links with the blast. Though he was born a Malayalee he was brought up as a Guajarati, police said. Police also have information that he had direct connection with Swami Asimananda, who is the prime organizer of the blast. Suresh Nair speaks Hindi, Guajarati and English fluently than Malayalam.
The Nair surname in his name was first pronounced as Nayyar which led to confusion during the primary stages of investigation. The link of a five-member group, including Suresh, came to light after police seized a Santro car with Madhya Pradesh registration number. The car was used to bring bombs to the blast site.
Police also booked four others in the gang. The investigation is progressing jointly by Rajasthan ATS, NIA and Delhi police after having information that the group is connected with a number other blasts. The probe is led by ATS Additional police superintendent Sathyendra Singh.
