Thiruvananthapuram: In a new twist to the property scam involving P V Sreenijan, son-in-law of former Chief Justice of India K G Balakrishnan, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan recommended a Vigilance probe into the alleged amassing of wealth by Sreenijan.
In a letter to the Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, the Chief Minister said it would be appropriate to hold a Vigilance enquiry into the charge that Sreenijan had amassed property worth crores of rupees in a short div of time.
Achuthanandan's letter was based on a complaint he received from one Sameer belonging to Mattanchery in Kochi, sources at the Chief Minister's office said. Several political leaders and Jurists have demanded a probe into the matter and asked K G Balakrishnan to step down as chairman of the National Human Rights Commission
