Kerala CM to open Infopark Phase 2

Thrissur : Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan will inaugurate the second phase of Infopark, Koratty, near here on January 8. Announcing this jointly District Collector A T James and B D Devassy, MLA told a press conference held today at Infopark Koratty that in its second phase Infopark had constructed a new food court having a built-up area of 4640 sq.ft that can cater to over 100 people.

Three buildings in this phase had been identified suitable for renovation and the first of these buildings was now ready for operation, they said adding that a 11kv, 500kvA substation with a standby diesel generator set of same capacity had also been installed.

With the inauguration of the second phase, we are simultaneously working on an ambitious plan to develop 25 acres of Infopark Thrissur as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ).

''Architectural plans and tender documents have been finalised for constructing of a multi-storyed IT building of around two lakh sq ft facing the National Highway said Infoparks CEO I****a Roy IAS. The building will cost around Rs 40 crore and be able to accommodate nearly 2000 to 2800 IT Professionals and the remaining land in the SEZ would be leased out to IT Companies and co-developers for developing their own campuses.

It was estimated that when the Park becomes fully operational it will have a built-up area of around 1.4 million sq ft that would provide employment to around 12000-15000 IT professionals.

Koratty Infopark, including its latest phase was developed on 30 acres of land and has IT buildings of approximately 70, 000 sq ft area with plug and play facilities and about 800 professionals would be employed when the park will become fully operational in Phase II, she said.

Koratty Infopark, has boosted the commercial developments happening in and around Koratty, since its inception in October last year. This was because of its strategic proximity to the Nedumbassery Airport, equidistant from Kochi and Thrissur cities, excellent data connectivity and an excellent workplace in a green environment. The work on the four-lane road connecting Kochi and Thrissur was almost complete and this will help reducing the time of commuting between the two cities. she added.

The infopark was inaugurated by Mr V S Achuthanandan at Koratty on October 10, 2009 Taking forward its vision of offering a single window to a world of opportunities, Kerala IT in 2004 established Infopark, located at Kakkanad Kochi in 100 acres, as one of the hubs of Kerala IT (Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode being the other two hubs) offering state-of-the-art facilities, cost effective infrastructure, abundance manpower, uninterrupted power and best data connectivity.

Infopark Kochi has become a potential destination among the IT/ITES investors.
