Kochi: The intellectual properties belonging to former Supreme Court Judge V R Krishna Iyer has been handed over to the Kerala Archieves Department in a simple function at his residence today.
In the absence of Kerala Cultural Minister M A Baby, Kerala State Higher Education Council Vice Chairman K N Panikkar received 21 documents, most of them letters to various Prime Ministers and State Chief Ministers since 1964, in the first stage. Speaking on the occasion, Justice Krishna Iyer with deep emotion said he was happy to become a part of the state history and his expectations were an India without political parties and freedom.
He said he had always stood with the farmers and common man, worked with them and did many things within his limits.
Though he had lot of documents, many of them he could not retrive from his memory and was very happy to handover the documents to the department for the benefit of new generation and posterity.
Addressing the gathering, 94-year-old Mr Iyer said with tears many of the people who wrote to him passed away and he was also waiting for the same. Stating that he respect Pandit Nehru and his principles, Mr Iyer said because of people like him, he reached the stage where he was now.
Justice Iyer also said he has no enemies and only friends.
Pointing out that he was a god-fearing man and followed Hindu tradition, the former CJI said he believed in Buddhist teaching as well and also liked to follow the principle of Gandhiji.
He also said he would contribute his 80 books to the Kerala High Court, which would be allowed as a public reference.
In his address, Mr Panikker said the Archives Department would make an oral document on Justice Iyer shortly.
