Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Fridya quashed a law by which Kovalam Palace was taken over by the State Government.
The Court held that the law, brought by the State Government in 2005, was unconstitutional.
Justice Thottathil B Radhakrishan while allowing a writ petition challenging the 2005 Act taking over the palace by Kovalam Hotels Limited, observed the state Government could not make legislation on such a subject as it was the Centre and the ITDC that had the right on Kovalam palace and other institutions.
The palace was previously owned by the ITDC.
