Protest against installation of cameras in Guruvayur Nalambalam
Guruvayur: Strong protests were raised against installing closed circuit cameras in the Nalambalam of Guruvayur temple. Works on that have been stopped temporarily. A total of 96 cameras are being installed on the temple complex. The decision was to install cameras to capture the Vathil Madam near the scantum sanctorium where the thantric rituals are performed and in Thidapally where the Nivedyas are prepared. Usually cameras are not allowed in the Nalambalam. Thanthri Chennas Vasudevan Nampoothiripad directed not to install cameras. Paricharana committee members said that they would also stop all efforts to capture the thanthric rituals on camera. The BJP municipal committee also came out against these steps. There are chances that the cameras might capture the devotees offering money and other things in the hundi and that would affect the revenue of the temple in future.
