    Pradeep Kumar MLA confident of second innings

    Kozhikode : Expressing confidence, Left Democratic Front (LDF) leader A Pradeep Kumar, MLA (CPI M), seeking re-election to Kerala Assembly from Calicut 1 constituency in the April 13 poll today said he was able to fulfill all the promises made in 2006.Talking to newspersons at a ''meet the candidate'' programme organised by the Calicut Press Club he said ''I am facing the electorate with confidence and satisfaction'' after successfully executing many development projects in the city.

    These included town development, including a cyber park in the city, widening of roads from north to south incurring expenditure worth millions of rupees, construction of a flyover.

    Tourism sector in the city also took a big leap with completion of Sarovaram Park, first phase, he said, adding second phase of the project would be completed soon.

    He said he was also able to commence the work of an hospitality management institute at an estimated cost of Rs 15 crore in the city.

    Some of the other projects executed during his tenure was renovation of Pazhazhiraja Krishna Menon Museum, freedom figher Moidu Moulavi Memorial Museum, renovation of Government Hospital Kottaparamba, which got national accreditation, Beach Hospital, Kuthiravattom Mental Hospital, beautification and modernisation of many educational institutions, including L P, U P and higher secondary schools using MLA funds.

    Stating 80 per cent of the Japanese aided drinking water project had been completed, he said the remaining part would be completed by 2012.

    Talking on future plan, he said attempt would be made for the development of Kozhikode Medical College on the pattern of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, homes for shelterless in the city, to resolve drinking water crisis and further steps for beach beautification, among others.
