Thiruvananthapuram : The Communist Party of India (CPI) today welcomed initiatives like ''cricket diplomacy'' for addressing issues with Pakistan. ''We welcome the initiative. It is only a beginning,'' CPI General Secretary A B Bardhan said while participating in 'Janavidhi 2011', a meet-the-press programme organised by Kesari Memorial Journalists Trust.Stating that there were many hurdles to cross to settle the issues between the two countries, he said talks were only one of them.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had invited his Pakistan counterpart Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to Mohali to watch the World Cup semi final match between India and Pakistan. Both the leaders would be holding discussions on various issues.
