Students Federation of India (SFI) founder president comrade C Bhaskaran passed away on Saturday in Chennai. He is survived by wife Tulasi, former news editor of Deshambhimani and two sons. 65-year-old comrade Bhaskaran has been suffering from chronic kidney failure and was admitted to Apollo hospital. Comrade Bhaskaran became the founder president of SFI at its founding conference in Trivandrum in 1970. He was editor of Chinta Publishers and himself wrote many books on communist revolutionaries and about history. He became a communist uring his school days itself in the late 60s. He was a member of CPI(M) Kerala state committee.
Reacting to the news, former SFI president Sitaram Yechury expressed sadness at Comrade Bhaskaran's death. 'He played an important role in organising the student movement on progressive and scientific lines', said Yechury. He expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.
