Sixth phase of polling will be held in 14 Assembly segments of West Midnapore, Bankura and Purulia, the areas which are affected by Maoists activities.
Under high police security, Chhattradhar accompanied by jail officials reached the election office at Jhargram at noon to collect the papers.
Advocate Kausik Singha, counsel of Chhattradhar, who also accompanied him, said he would file the nomination on April 19. He further said as per his request, the Election office gave him the CD of the electoral roll of the village ‘Amliya’.
On April 6, Chhattradhar had approached the ACJM, Jhargram to allow him to contest election from Jhargram assembly segment and the court had accepted his plea. Chattradhar would contest the election under the banner of “Durniti Santrash Samrajyabad Agrasan Birodhi Mancha (platform against corruption, terrorism, imperialism)”.
Singha said Chhatradhar would not be allowed to come out from jail for campaign as per the legal provisions. Chhatradhar’s party has already released a manifesto for the poll and Jharkhand Disam Party and other local political party and social organisation would campaign for Chattradhar, said Singha.
