Thiruvananthapuram: Chief minister VS Achuthanandan would seek the permission of the Election Commission for disciplinary action against ice cream parlour investigation head ADGP Vinson M Paul. The action is being sought for denying CM''s order to seek legal advice from the Supreme Court advocate for the case. The permission of EC is needed for taking action against officials when the model code of conduct exists. The CM had directed ADGP to hand over the case diary and the progress report of the probe. The CM is leaving for Bengal poll campaigning on April 20. It is learnt that before leaving he might call a meeting of Vinson M Paul and DGP. CM would reiterate his demand on the case diary to SC advocate Susheel Kumar and would ask to conduct the probe as per legal advice. If the officer does not takes a favourable stand, CM would take disciplinary action.
Earlier, ADGP stated that CM's direction couldn't be legally recognized. DGP Jacob Punoose also stated that legal advice couldn't be accepted as per CM's direction.
