A sensational case of extortion has been reported by the Congress legislator Brijendra Singh Rathore has come to light in the State capital. The unknown caller has demanded `2 lakh from Rathore, residing in the New Market area of the State capital.
According to the police, the MLA from Prithvipur, received a call from a mobile phone when he was in a meeting with workers from his constituency at his residence in E-2/45 Bungalows, which falls under the TT Nagar police station. The caller demanded Rs 2 lakh from the MLA. On the refusal to pay the extortion money, the MLA was threatened for life by the unidentified caller.
Rathore then called senior police officials and informed him about the threat call. According to the police, the investigation is on the right track and the culprit would be brought to book.
Rathore is himself one of the accused in the murder of former BJP Minister Sunil Nayak. The BJP candidate from the Prithvipur Assembly constituency was shot dead on the day of polling for the Assembly polls in November 2008 near Prithvipur town in Tikamgarh district. Rathore, who was contesting from the same seat, had emerged victorious.
