Thiruvananthapuram : A 'Nagar Ratna' award will be given to three best performing Municipal Corporations covered under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) in the country.The All India Institute of Local Self Government (AIILSG) will confer 'AIILSG Nagar Ratna' award on the best municipalities in recognition and appreciation of their innovative efforts to meet the citizenry aspirations in terms of service delivery, AIILSG president Jatin V Modi, told newspersons here today.
The AIILSG had decided to confer the award to the best municipalities in consonance with its avowed objectives, collaborative partnership, long standing relation and effective working linkages with the local bodies, he said.
The entries for the award have been received from various corporations and the selection process is in progress.
The awardees will be decided by an Evaluation Committee chaired by a retired Supreme Court Judge with urban experts, professionals and senior bureaucrats as members, he added.
